After the zombies came, various factions formed all over the world. Marauders, scavengers, religious nut-jobs and such. Each of them have their own special traits, and with most of them, you need to stay away.

Marauders:
America: Sons of Anarchy.
Asia: Yomi.
These people are dangerous. They're gangs of survivors who murder, rape, pillage and basically do whatever the hell they want. They don't really have a sense of honor. They only have the Marauder code, which basically says that they shouldn't betray each other.
So far, only two organization have become 'famous.' Those are the Sons of Anarchy, operating in America, and the Yomi, operating in Asia.
Flee- or Kill-on-sight.

Religious groups:
America: Children of God
Europe: The Holy Catholic Crusaders
These people sound better than the marauders, but they're not. Not by a long shot. They believe themselves to be the purifiers. They believe that they have been put on earth to get rid of the zombies, and they will do so by any means necessary.
They kill humans and zombies alike, going by the saying, "If you're not one of us, you're one of them." According to them, everyone, save for themselves, might become zombies at any moment, and needs to die.
The two most prominent groups are the Children of God, based in North America (Kansas, to be exact) and the Holy Catholic Crusaders, based in the Vatican in Europe.
The Children of God are the more aggressive of the two, with no regard to who they kill, and will often lay siege to settlements, if they see an opportunity for occupation.

Scavengers:
Europe: Keepers of History
North America: The Librarians
These people are a danger to no one, except for themselves. All they care about is history. They could run into a room filled with zombies, wielding only a knife, to get a painting.
They'd happily give up their lives to keep knowledge alive. If you meet them, don't be afraid. They won't harm you, and will even give you a meal if you're hungry.
The two most notable groups are Europe's Keepers of History, based in the Sistine Chapel, and North America's Librarians, based in the Smithsonian.

Zombie Hunters:
Everyone kills zombies. However, these guys are awesome. They live for nothing, other than killing zombies in the most gruesome way possible. Most of them are former soldiers, straight from Iraq, or hardened police officers and SWAT.
If you meet a group of these guys, you can be sure that you'll be safe forever, unless you meet an Origin Zombie. Even then, they could probably slow him down long enough for you all to escape.
The Zombie Hunter HQ is a well-supplied aircraft carrier off the western coast of the US, from where they send the orders to the other Zombie Hunters throughout the world. The HQ never makes port, but instead gests supplies flown in or delivered via boats departing from the Zombie Hunter station located somewhere in San Francisco.
Admin's rule: Zombie Hunters can only be created by an admin, or those with admin's permission. That's because these guys are as close to Gary Stu/Mary Sue you can get. If you want a zombie hunter to post in your thread, the most you just have to do is get your character in trouble, and there's a good chance they'll come running, kicking zombie ass.
