A low groan was heard. A zombie, a thirty year old man, a business man, judging by the fancy business suit. He limped around Nevada, no real goal in mind. He just walked. In less than a second, his unlife ended as his head exploded in a showed of blood.
700 yards away, safe in his concrete tower, Steve reloaded his Springfield rifle. His gas mask was off, laying on the table next to the stool he was sitting on. The top of the tower didn't have a ceiling. It was completely open, and Steve only had a parasol to keep the sun from burning him to a crisp.
A stereo behind him was blasting classic rock music. Born to be Wild. Steve laughed lously as he reached for the table, grabbing a glass of ice water and sipping it. "Headshot!" he exclaimed and looked down at the German shepherd laying a few feet away. "How about that one, John?"
The dog barked happily, and Steve grinned, reaching into one of the pouches attached to his belt and taking out a piece of jerky, throwing it to the dog, who caught it in the air.
"Born to be wild," Steve sang as he looked through his scope, scanning the desert for zombies. He heard a noise from below him and looked down, finding someone standing right outside his locked and barricaded door. "Damn zombies," he muttered as he put his Springfield rifle away, and upholstered his Beretta, aiming down at whoever was at the gate.
"Don't move a muscle, ya zombie bastard!"

Candice, had been walking around for a while, running into the damn living dead things every now and then. It seemed she was getting into a better area, now that she had traveled further. But she only wanted more than anything to run into more of the filthy creatures so she could get her revenge on there kind.
She heard a groaning sound coming from behind her, a sly grin stretched on her face as she reached to her left side grabbing her gun quickly before flashing back shooting off 3 rounds watching the creature fall to the ground and disintegrate. “HA! Fucker, It’s your fault for walking this earth.” she muttered with a small grin. She placed her gun in her pouch after replacing the bullets she used up. It was always a technique that her father taught her, she never knew how many of these things she would run into at once.
She turned back in the direction she was heading taking a swig of the water from her canteen, before placing it back in her pack. She hadn't really ran into any other people for a while, which wasn't such a good thing as she thought it was. It only meant that the disease was spreading more and more each day, It only made her wonder how many of these suckers she killed every day of her life, the thought made her grin happily knowing it would be a large number.
She found a tower, and began walking over to it, figuring she would check it out. She had been out all day and it was time that she found some place she could rest to regain her energy. She hadn't slept in two days and it was actually starting to effect her a bit. Once she reached the tower she leaned against the iron as she looked out at the sun light. "Don't move a muscle, ya zombie bastard!" She heard a man yell.
She looked up and saw someone pointing a gun down at her. She quickly flipped out of the way before looking up at him. "Excuse me but how can you mistake me for one of those..." She stopped for a moment placing her hand on her waist. "dead creatures.." She finished glancing up at him once again.

"Excuse me but how can you mistake me for one of those... dead creatures.." It was a woman. A fine woman at that. Steve narrowed his eyes as he glared down at her, giving off a chuckle.
"Heh! That sounds like a zombie answer to me! Well, you ain't eatin' my flesh, girl! You can be sure of that!" he exclaimed with a grin. He wasn't about to let a zombie into his tower just like that! No way!
"If you're not a zombie, answer me this! Who won the Superbowl 1999?! Can't answer can ya? Caaan yaaa?" He snickered as he reached for his glass of water, taking a sip. Then, he looked over to John. "What do you say, boy? Does she smell like a zombie?"
John barked, and Steve furrowed his brow in confusion. "Was that a yes, or a no?" The dog barked again, and Steve groaned, before looking down. "I hope you understand my reluctance to hang around you. The last time I let someone into this here tower of mine, a zombie took a swing at me with a 9-iron."

"Heh! That sounds like a zombie answer to me! Well, you ain't eatin' my flesh, girl! You can be sure of that!" She looked at him curiously, what was wrong with this guy. It wasn't that hard to distinguish the difference between a human or a living dead thing. Unless of course the person had just been bitten and was hiding it for some odd reason.
"Sorry flesh isn't my thing, so you don't have to worry about it." She told him shaking her head. Obviously this guy didn't believe her, but she didn't know what she could do that would make him believe her. If he couldn't tell that she was a human now, what would change his mind then? She continued to look up at him crossing her arms over her chest and tapping her foot in annoyance.
"If you're not a zombie, answer me this! Who won the Superbowl 1999?! Can't answer can ya? Caaan yaaa?" He asked her. A smile creeped on her face...she actually knew the answer to that question but how was that going to prove anything? She sighed for a moment as she thought about it getting the scores picked out as well as the winner.
"Denver Broncos vs. Atlanta Falcons, score was 34 to 19...Broncos took it to the win...Is that good enough for you?" She asked as she shifted her weight to her other foot as she waited for his response. That was a silly question, but she didn't mind telling him the answer, but she really was tired, and beginning to feel it weigh down on her.
"I hope you understand my reluctance to hang around you. The last time I let someone into this here tower of mine, a zombie took a swing at me with a 9-iron." She chuckled softly glancing down at the ground seeing a small shadow form in front of her. She turned around seeing five of the walking dead heading towards her.
"Damn.." She muttered pulling out her gun shooting off a few rounds before placing it back into her pouch. She then lashed out kicking her leg up in the air whacking one of them, all while twisting the things neck. She landed back down pulling her rope from her waist lashing out her weapon before slashing it across the last four cutting there heads off. She slowed her rope down before returning it too her wrapping it up and placing it back on her waist. She had a small grin on her face before turning around and looking back up at the man.

"Denver Broncos vs. Atlanta Falcons, score was 34 to 19...Broncos took it to the win...Is that good enough for you?" Steve twitched. Hell, even he didn't know that... Shaking his head, he grinned at her.
"A zombie could've known that, too. But even if you are a human, you could be one of those crazies, who thinks they're zombies!" He looked to his right, seeing a group of zombies approaching the girl. He was about to exclaim that he was onto her and all his usual bullshit, when she flawlessly, and rather nicely, killed the zombies within the span of a few seconds.
Steve blinked, staring down at her. Then, he nodded. "Alright, so maybe you're not out to eat my flesh after all. But don't think I'm openin' the door for ya!" he yelled down at her before crouching down, picking up a rope ladder, which was bolted to the floor. He threw it down to her. "Climb up, quickly!"
He reached for the table, picking up his Sharps rifle, before taking aim, shooting a zombie that was running towards them some 100 yards away. He clicked his tongue, narrowing his eyes. "They've started to run now, too... Stupid ass zombies..."

"A zombie could've known that, too. But even if you are a human, you could be one of those crazies, who thinks they're zombies!" She stared at him, with wide eyes. This was unbelievable, he couldn't really think a Zombie would know that. They barely even spoke English for that matter.
She took the zombies out as quickly as she could, maybe that would show this guy she wasn't out to get him. She looked up at him holding his gaze for a moment before he nodded. Alright, so maybe you're not out to eat my flesh after all. But don't think I'm openin' the door for ya!" he yelled down at her. She nodded, wondering what the hell he was going to do then. Just then a rope ladder fell out in front of her.
She looked up at him once "Climb up, quickly!" nodding at his words before taking a glance behind her. More of the bloody monsters were heading her way. She wanted so much to stay down and fight but she wasn't sure she had much strength to do so. She quickly looked at the ladder before she made her way up, as fast as she could with small grunts.
Once she reached the top, she pulled herself over..hearing the loud shots from his rifle. She pulled herself on top breathing heavily before turning around and pulling up the ladder before any of the flipping freaks, would get creative thinking they could climb up. She leaned back as she caught her breathe, before sitting up after a few moments looking straight at the man who aloud her up to join him.

Steve growled loudly as he took down one zombie after the other. There were never this many zombies there. It was that woman... He quickly glared at her as she came up, pulling the ladder up with her.
"Welcome to the Tower," he said simply as he looked down. There was about a dozen of those bastards down there, banging on his door. "Ya damn bastards, why, I oughta..." he muttered, cursing to himself as he headed off to the other side of the tower, grabbing a can of gasoline, and bringin it over to the edge, looking down as he unscrewed the lid.
"Hope ya like it, ya bastards," he said as he started pouring the gasoline on the group of zombies. 5 gallons of gasoline, wasted on a group of zombies. He glanced at the woman, a grin appearing on his face as he reached into his pocket, taking out a pack of matches. "You like bon fires, miss?"
He lit a match, and set the whole pack on fire, before dropping it onto the zombies. In a millisecond, they all burst into flames. Flames, Steve had learned, scared the zombies, which showed, by the way the usually mindless zombies started flailing wildly, completely forgetting about getting into the tower.
While the zombies were distracted, Steve swiftly drew his Beretta, and fired off seven shots, each hitting their mark, the head of a zombie. "Hope there ain't more of them out there for now. A man needs a little peace and quiet," he muttered as he sat down again, sipping his ice water, before looking at the woman.
"I'm Steve, and that's John over there," he said and waved his hand towards the dog, who was just laying there, being lazy. "So, what bring you out to this here desert? You're pretty far from any cities."

"Welcome to the Tower," He stated keeping his attention on the monsters down below them, before getting up and walking to the other side of the tower. Her eyes followed him as he did so coming back with a can of gasoline before pouring it over the tower, all over the zombies.
"Hope ya like it, ya bastards," She watched as he poured all of it on them, before taking her gaze back to him as he gave her a grin. She smiled back just as he dug in his pocket "You like bon fires, miss?" He asked pulling out a pack of matches. She smiled and nodded, it was joy to see the filthy things burn..they deserved it.
Just then he lit the match and let it fall, The fire started right in the middle before scattering out into a wave taking all the bloody creatures with it. She couldn't help but laugh a little as she saw some of them run in circles. They were weird creatures, it shocked her just to think they use to be regular humans just as her and this man she sat next to.
Once again the man bulled out his gun shooting off a few shots. "Hope there ain't more of them out there for now. A man needs a little peace and quiet," He spoke peaking down at them once more. She agreed with that, she had been dealing with the monsters all day..and she was damn well tired from not getting any rest.
"I'm Steve, and that's John over there,"/i] She looked at the man with a small smile, before glancing over at his dog. She hadn't really seen any other animals around except for her hawk every once in a while. "So, what bring you out to this here desert? You're pretty far from any cities." She looked back at Steve before putting her hand out to shake his.
"I'm Candice..Candice Elaina-Marie Costiveya.." She spoke using her full Spanish accent. She smiled shaking his hand with a strong grip. She always introduced herself with her full name it was a thing she had that she never really could explain. "I roam around a lot, I don't really have a specific place I stay..I spend my days hunting down these suckers...after all they took my father.." She spoke squinting as she looked out towards the sun.

"I'm Candice..Candice Elaina-Marie Costiveya.."
He shook her hand and furrowed his brow when he heard the very long name. "Candince Ele-... Ela-... Screw it, I'll just call you Candy," he said as he leaned back in his chair, stretching.
"I roam around a lot, I don't really have a specific place I stay..I spend my days hunting down these suckers...after all they took my father.." He nodded.
"I can relate to that. Me? I lost my father, my mother, my best friend, and my girlfriend to those freaks," he said with a sigh, before taking a deep breath, wiping his forehead. "Whoo, this heat is killing me..."
He took off his thick leather coat and threw it onto a wooden crate on the other side of the tower, grabbing his glass of ice water and dumping it on his head.
"Usually, I don't do this, but considering even I'm burning up right now..." He reached under his table to pull out a cooler. He opened it and reached in, taking out two bottles of ice cold water, holding one out to her. "That there is probably the cleanest damn water in Nevada."
John sat up and whined quietly, making Steve look at him, then look over at the empty water bowl next to Candy. He reached into the cooler and took out another bottle. "Hey, Candy, would you mind giving John there some water?" he asked as he held out the bottle.

"Candince Ele-... Ela-... Screw it, I'll just call you Candy," She chuckled softly shaking her head. It was always interesting to hear the person try to say her name after she spoke it so easily. Well she grew up with the name, and she actually liked it..no matter how tough it was for others.
"I can relate to that. Me? I lost my father, my mother, my best friend, and my girlfriend to those freaks," She looked at him with understanding. Those creatures definitely did some damage, and she was going to keep fighting until the day she dies..even if they were the ones that eventually killed her. "Whoo, this heat is killing me..." he mumbled.
The sun was blazing against her skin, beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she wiped it away. She looked at Steve as he removed his jacket. She fanned her skin as she took in small breathes to keep up cool air flowing through her body so she didn't heat up. She was sorta getting use to it since she had been traveling in it for over two days.
"Usually, I don't do this, but considering even I'm burning up right now..." She looked at him curiously as he pulled a cooler out from under the table. He opened it and reached in pulling out a couple bottles of ice water. He handed one over to her as he spoke, "That there is probably the cleanest damn water in Nevada." She gave him a thankful smile before taking the bottle from him.
"Thank you." She said softly, she looked over at the dog as is whimpered a little. She looked down seeing the dish in front of her just before Steve handed her another bottle. "Hey, Candy, would you mind giving John there some water?" She smiled and took the bottle before opening the cap and pouring some in the bowl. "Here you john." She smiled at the dog. She placed that bottle down before taking her own and opening up taking a few sips from it. She poured a little over her face, to cool her off from the sun..
"So are you out for revenge on these bastards to or do you just do this for fun?" She asked him curiously

"So are you out for revenge on these bastards to or do you just do this for fun?"
"A little bit of both, I think," Steve said with a smile. "I mean, shootin' zombies from 500 yards or more away is always fun, but sometimes, I don't just shoot them for fun. I shoot them when I think of my family as well."
He took out some beef jerky and started munching on it. "I can't really say I'm shooting them to exterminate them, since that wouldn't be true. I like life the way it is right now. Back before this happened, I couldn't just find a store, walk right into it and take what I needed. I can now."
Steve stretched again, and looked around. He spotted something in the distance and squinted, a smile appearing on his face. "Like that zombie over there," he said as he picked up his Sharps rifle, taking aim. "I don't need to shoot him, since he's not coming this way, but I just feel like shooting something, so..."
He fired, and a second later, the zombie 400 yards away fell to the ground, dead. "Booyah," Steve said with a grin as he put away his rifle. "Plus, I'm cooped up in this tower all the time. The only thing I can do is talk to John, shoot zombies or watch DVDs."

"A little bit of both, I think," She looked at him curiously as she took another drink of the cool water, it was helping her feel a little better at least. The water in her canteen had gone warm, and it wasn't that great from this heat out here. It was nice to have something refreshing. "I can't really say I'm shooting them to exterminate them, since that wouldn't be true. I like life the way it is right now. Back before this happened, I couldn't just find a store, walk right into it and take what I needed. I can now." She nodded, his thoughts on the whole situation did make sense but she still did prefer her life before all this happened. Although she does enjoy the hunt, giving her a reason to use her weapons and such.
Every time she saw a zombie it made her think about, how she took her own fathers life. It still surprised her that she was able to do it in the first place. But at least she could say she was getting her revenge everyday she walked this earth...killing was part of her life style..it was just the way to live.
"Like that zombie over there," She gave him a smile as he pointed his rifle at the damned thing.."I don't need to shoot him, since he's not coming this way, but I just feel like shooting something, so..." He pulled the trigger and just like that, the creature fell to the ground. "Booyah," She looked at him with a cocked eyebrow, it was interesting to see someone else with so much joy in the kill.
"Nice shot," She spoke giving him a winning smile, she had almost forgotten how nice it was to talk to someone. It seemed these days the virus was spreading more and more...taking innocent people.
"Plus, I'm cooped up in this tower all the time. The only thing I can do is talk to John, shoot zombies or watch DVDs." She didn't know how he did it, she couldn't stay put in one place for a good while it just didn't work like that for her. She always had to be doing something.
"Yea I know what you mean, but I miss the way things use to be..now its like I am fighting for my life everyday.." She brought her knees up to her chest as she closed her eyes. She was exhausted, and she didn't even think she would find some place secure enough for her to rest in. "Why don't you go out and explore other places and such? I mean yea its dangerous but you just got to keep moving..and it seems like you got the skill to kill any sucker that crosses your path." She looked at him curiously.

"Yeah, school, epidemics, heartbreak, stress, you mean that sort of 'use to be?'" he asked, shaking his head. "It's better now. You know, except for the whole zombie things. Ain't that right, boy?"
John barked happily, before running off, heading down a staircase leading to the first floor. Steve nodded, smiling at Candy as if John's opinion settled the matter.
"Why don't you go out and explore other places and such? I mean yea its dangerous but you just got to keep moving..and it seems like you got the skill to kill any sucker that crosses your path."
"I do explore," Steve said, pointing at the staircase. "I've got a pickup downstairs, and I use it to go find supplies. So far, I've gone so far as to go to California. Never going back there, though..." he muttered, sighing. "Almost lost John back in Cali."
He glanced at Candy, raising an eyebrow. "You ever been to California?"

"Yea I understand..but hey I am up for anything..so it really didn't bother me much..Ive had my experience with men but that was life too..I dealt with it all..but now there's not much to look forward to..unless somehow they come up with something to stop all these god damn creatures." She laughed at the thought...she knew that was something that would probably never happen..but it was nice to have hopes sometimes.
She couldn't help but laugh a little, when Steve looked at her...like the dogs opinion would be that great of importance.
"I do explore," She nodded all while shifting stretching out her legs, and laying back, resting her head. "I've got a pickup downstairs, and I use it to go find supplies. She looked at him in interest..She hadn't made her way to California yet...she had mainly been by her home in Chili..until recently. "Almost lost John back in Cali." It sounded like the type of place she would go too...plenty of hunting she was sure of.
"You ever been to California?" She shook her head before speaking.
"No, I haven't been there yet..but I will probably go soon...I just travel where ever I am lead...but I spent most of my time in south America..by my home...for a good long while before totally abandoning the place...it was just to hard to live there." He looked around. "I could take you there, though. My truck is-" Steve interrupted himself as he suddenly grabbed his rifle and stood up, quickly aiming and firing. A hundred yards away, a man, dressed like a priest, fell to the ground, dead. "Yeah, I saw ya, ya bastard! I ain't interested in joinin' your little cult!"
He spat in the direction of the corpse, before sitting down again. "Stupid cult people. They just want to kill everything... Anyway, I can take ya to Cali. My truck has a few upgrades to ward off zombies. But I ain't going for supplies for a few days, though."
